The Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 has 5 recalls covering the 2018–2020 model years, with the most serious being a fuel leak at the fuel pump and fuel level sensor mounting area on 2018–2020 models that can create a fire risk even when the motorcycle is parked.

A separate mechanical concern affects all 2018–2020 models: the gear teeth on the license plate holder and swingarm can be positioned incorrectly, allowing the rear axle nut to loosen and the license plate bracket to contact the rear wheel, which can affect handling and cause a crash. The 2018 model year has an additional filing for the same rear axle nut issue tied to misalignment of the license plate bracket and rear fender. There is also a clutch slave cylinder defect on 2018–2020 models where the clutch can become inoperable, removing the rider's ability to disengage the transmission and raising the risk of a crash.
