6 recalls across 6 model years
The Indian Springfield Dark Horse has 6 recalls spanning 2017 through 2025, with the most serious recent issue being a 2025 model year fuel pump wiring defect where an incorrectly crimped wire can cause the pump to fail and stall the engine while riding. The 2023-2024 model years share a similar stall risk from a crankshaft position sensor routed incorrectly during assembly, which can also cut engine power without warning. On 2024 models, the rear suspension pushrod can buckle under load, potentially pinching the main wiring harness, damaging the coolant reservoir, contacting the rear tire, or causing the suspension to bottom out.
Going back to 2019, a 10-amp circuit breaker can trip unexpectedly and kill engine power mid-ride, again raising the risk of a crash. The 2018 model year has an electrical issue where the motorcycle can start on its own; if parked in an enclosed space at the time, the running engine can expose anyone nearby to carbon monoxide. The 2017-2018 models may have been fitted with a European-specification halogen headlight rather than the correct US unit, which produces a different light pattern and reduces how visible the motorcycle is to other road users at night.
