Summary
The Jaguar XK has 8 recalls spanning the 2006–2015 production run, with the most serious being a fuel pump relay fault on 2010–2011 models where the engine can cut out with little warning while driving, creating a crash risk. The 2012–2015 model years have two related issues worth noting together: front parking lamps can shut off after about five minutes of operation, reducing how visible the car is to other drivers at night or in low light. On 2013–2015 XKR and XKR-S models equipped with the 5.0L engine, the spare tire placard incorrectly lists no inflation pressure, which can lead to an improperly inflated spare and tire failure if it's ever put into service.
Convertible-equipped models from 2011–2014 have a roof console switch that can activate the power windows while the top is in motion, potentially pinching a hand or finger. The 2011 convertible also has a compliance issue with the overhead switch not operating in the manner required by Canadian standards. On 2010 models, the power steering pipes can corrode due to insufficient plating and leak steering fluid, gradually reducing steering assist. Going back to the earliest production year, 2006 models have an accelerator pedal assembly where reduced clearance between the accelerator and brake pedal can cause both to be pressed simultaneously, and in the worst case the accelerator can become stuck against its stop.
