3 recalls across 3 model years
The Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 has 3 recalls covering 1996, 1997, and 2002 model years, with the most serious being a transmission gear defect on 1997 models where a faulty gear weakens and can break an adjacent gear, locking up the transmission and causing sudden loss of control. The 1996 model has a separate issue where the underside of the seat can press against the battery cable terminals, snap a terminal off, and cut power to the electrical system, stalling the engine without warning. On 2002 models, a wiring harness routed behind the fuel tank can be worn through by a nearby clamp, disabling the turn signals and instrument or indicator lights.
