9 recalls across 7 model years
The Kia Cadenza has 9 recalls spanning the 2014–2020 model years, with the most serious being an anti-lock brake control module that can short circuit and start an engine compartment fire on 2017–2019 models, a risk that exists whether the vehicle is parked or being driven.
The 2017 model year also has a separate brake vacuum hose that can kink and reduce braking force, lengthening the distance needed to stop. On 2020 models, a software issue allows the rear power windows to continue operating after the ignition is off and a front door is opened, which raises the risk of a window closing on an occupant.
The 2014–2016 model years carry two distinct issues. The front windshield on these vehicles may not have been properly bonded during manufacturing and can detach from the body, which creates a hazard both in normal driving and in a crash. There is also an anti-lock brake control module fire risk on 2014–2016 models, similar in nature to the one affecting later production years.
Going back to the 2014 model year specifically, vehicles built between February and August 2013 and equipped with 19-inch non-chrome aluminum wheels have wheels that can fracture when striking a pothole or similar impact, causing the rim to separate and the tire to lose pressure rapidly.
