7 recalls across 7 model years
The KTM 690 Enduro R has 7 recalls covering 2014 through 2022 model years, with multiple issues across braking and clutch systems that can reduce or eliminate stopping ability or cause unexpected forward movement.
The most recent recall affects 2019-2022 models equipped with TKC80 tires, where cracks longer than 3/16 inch can develop in the tread grooves and lead to tread separation while riding. On 2018-2020 models, a bellows gasket inside the clutch slave cylinder can deteriorate, preventing the clutch from disengaging when the lever is pulled. This means the motorcycle can continue moving when the rider tries to stop, or lurch forward when started with a gear selected.
The 2015 model year has a rear brake line running from the ABS pressure modulator to the foot brake cylinder that can be damaged during assembly or worn through by contact with a spring clamp on the crankcase ventilation hose, resulting in loss of rear braking. On 2014 models, two separate recalls address the rear brake pedal: a mounting bolt can loosen and allow the pedal to shift out of position and disable the rear brake, and in a related issue the pedal mounting bolt can loosen enough for the pedal to detach entirely, leaving only the front brake available to slow the motorcycle.
