4 recalls across 3 model years
The Lada Niva has 4 recalls spanning the 1981–1995 production run, with the most serious affecting 1981 models where corrosion in the floor and lower pillar areas can weaken the front seatbelt mounts, reducing restraint effectiveness in a sudden stop or crash.
The remaining three recalls are compliance issues involving labels and identification. On 1995 models, the VIN plate in the window displays an incorrect number. On 1986 models, the brake fluid warning label and the tire and rim information label do not meet Canadian safety regulations. Earlier 1981 production also has a separate compliance issue involving controls, tires and rims, and seatbelt labeling requirements.
