4 recalls across 3 model years
The Lamborghini Murciélago has 4 recalls covering 2002 through 2007, with the most serious being a fuel pump support that can detach inside the fuel tank on 2007 models when acceleration and vibration stress the internal spot welds.
On 2002 models, two separate steering column issues affect control of the vehicle. The lower steering column shaft coupling can have excessive clearance where it meets the steering rack input shaft, allowing it to separate and leave the driver unable to steer. A second issue on those same 2002 vehicles involves the upper steering column shaft coupling, where loose bolts can also cause separation from the steering input shaft with the same result: a complete loss of steering. The 2006 model year has a brake rotor fixing screw that can fail, reducing braking effectiveness and extending stopping distances.
