4 recalls across 3 model years
The Lexus ES 300 has 4 recalls spanning the 1992-2002 production run, with the most serious being a 1994 model year steering wheel set nut that can loosen, allowing the steering wheel to separate from the shaft entirely and leaving the driver with no ability to steer.
The 2002 model year carries two recalls. The front brake line on the driver's side can arrive deformed from a shipping spacer installed incorrectly before delivery; if the deformation is significant enough that the tube contacts the inner fender panel, road vibration can wear through the tube over time and cause brake fluid loss at that corner. Also on 2002 vehicles, the driver's airbag cover can tear along its bottom seam during deployment, allowing a piece of the cover to break free and strike the driver. Going back to the earliest production, the 1992 model year has a secondary hood latch that can accumulate dust and fail to engage properly; if the primary latch is also not fully secured, the hood can fly open while driving and block the driver's view entirely.
