The Lexus ES 300H has 2 recalls, the most serious affecting 2013 models where the pre-collision system can mistake a steel road joint or plate for an obstacle and automatically apply the brakes without driver input, which can catch following traffic off guard and increase the risk of a rear-end collision. On 2023 models, a software problem can cause the rearview camera image to appear later than required after shifting into reverse, reducing the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle while backing up.
