5 recalls across 11 model years
The Lexus GS has 5 recalls spanning the 2006-2020 model years, with the most pressing concern for recent owners being a low-pressure fuel pump on 2016-2020 models that can fail and stall the engine without warning.
The 2007-2011 GS350 and GS450h have a separate fuel system issue where the diaphragms inside the fuel pulsation dampers can harden and crack over time, allowing fuel to leak into the engine compartment where it can ignite. Going back to the 2006-2007 model years, a fuel pressure sensor connected to the engine fuel delivery pipe can loosen over time and leak fuel, again creating a fire risk. The 2006 model year alone carries two additional recalls: stress concentrations in two specific engine compartment fuel pipes can lead to cracks and fuel leakage with the same fire potential, and the front seat belt retractors on both the driver and passenger sides can lock up and refuse to release, leaving an occupant unable to properly fasten their belt before a crash.
