LOTUS EXIGE Recalls

The Lotus Exige has 3 recalls covering the entire 2005–2011 production run, all involving oil cooler lines or hoses that can detach from their fittings and spray oil onto tires, brakes, or hot engine components, raising the risk of a crash or an engine compartment fire. The issue spans the full production run but is addressed in overlapping campaigns by year range. On 2008–2011 models, the oil cooler hose can pull free from its fitting and spray oil across the engine compartment, where contact with hot surfaces can start a fire, or coat the tires and reduce grip. The same basic failure affects 2005–2007 models, where the detached line can spray oil onto the tires and raise crash risk, or ignite in the engine bay. The 2006 model year carries an additional dimension: spilled oil reaching the road surface can create a hazard for other vehicles following behind.
