3 recalls across 2 model years
The Mercedes-Benz 190 has 3 recalls across the 1983-1984 model years, the most serious affecting 1984 models with certain 14-inch alloy wheels that can develop cracks in the rim, causing rapid tire pressure loss and potential loss of vehicle control.
The 1984 model year also has an electrical defect where a blown fuse can knock out the rear brake lights, leaving following drivers with no warning of braking. The same electrical fault can prevent cruise control from disengaging when the driver touches the brake pedal, requiring the driver to brake hard enough to drop below roughly 25 mph or manually switch the system off to cancel it. On 1983 models, the parking brake lever release knob can stick and then release unintentionally, reducing the holding force the parking brake applies and allowing the vehicle to roll.
