The 1984 model year also has an electrical fault that can blow a fuse and knock out the rear brake lights, leaving the vehicle invisible to following traffic during braking. On vehicles with cruise control, the same fuse failure means touching the brake pedal alone will not disengage cruise control; the driver must either brake hard enough to drop below 40 km/h or manually switch the system off. On 1983 models, the parking brake release knob can stick in a way that causes the lever to release on its own, reducing the holding force and allowing the vehicle to roll on a slope.
