8 recalls across 4 model years
The Mercedes-Benz AMG C63S has 8 recalls covering 2015-2018 model years, with the most serious being an inadvertent driver airbag deployment across all 2015-2018 vehicles that can fire without a crash, raising the risk of injury and loss of vehicle control.
A steering rack defect also affects 2015-2018 models, where the rack can fail and prevent the driver from properly steering the vehicle. On 2018 models, the passenger seat occupant classification sensor can incorrectly show the front airbag as active when it will not actually deploy in a crash, leaving a passenger unprotected without knowing it. Also on 2018 models, the rear window can separate from the body due to improper bonding and become a road hazard. Two separate seat-related recalls cover 2018 production: on Cabriolet variants, the front seatback may not lock properly on the right side and can fold forward in a crash, and on vehicles fitted with AMG performance seats, the backrest rail and fitting may not be correctly welded, allowing the seat to fail in a crash. The 2017-2018 Cabriolet variants have a rear beltline trim that can detach while driving and become a road hazard.
Going back to 2015-2016 models, a software fault in the emergency call system can cause it to report an incorrect date, time, and vehicle location, which could delay emergency responders after a crash.
