Mercedes-Benz Amg Sl63 Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz AMG SL63 has 10 recalls spanning 2016 through 2023, with the most serious being an unsecured wiring harness on 2022-2023 models where the starter and alternator wiring can short circuit, cut drive power without warning, or overheat and start a fire.

Two fuel pump recalls affect 2022-2023 vehicles and describe the same underlying problem: the pump can shut down unexpectedly, cutting engine power while driving. On 2023 models, incorrectly manufactured 80-amp fuses can fail and cause a sudden loss of drive power or knock out critical systems including the airbags and instrument cluster.

The 2022 model year also has a recall covering vehicles equipped with a heated leather steering wheel, where the hands-off detection feature can deactivate and disable the driver assistance system's ability to issue steering wheel grab warnings and automatically contact emergency services if the driver becomes unresponsive.

Going back to 2019, a bolt at the front-left mounting point of the rear axle carrier can loosen over time and affect handling unpredictably. That same model year has a front passenger airbag with a seam that can tear during deployment, reducing the bag's ability to protect the occupant in a crash.

The 2018-2020 model years have an emergency call system that can send responders to the wrong location after a crash. A related issue on 2019 models can disable the emergency call system entirely, preventing any contact with emergency services. On 2016 models, a software fault in the same system can cause an incorrect date and time to be transmitted, which can result in an inaccurate location being relayed to responders.
