MERCEDES-BENZ CLA CLASS Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz CLA Class has 6 recalls spanning the 2013-2019 model years, with the most serious affecting 2016 vehicles where the clutch disk can separate from the clutch hub, cutting drive power without warning and raising the risk of a crash. The 2018 and 2019 model years share a software fault where the rearview camera image can fail to appear on the display when reversing, reducing the driver's visibility behind the vehicle. A separate 2018 concern involves the passenger seat sensor that detects whether a child seat is occupied: the system can fail to suppress the front passenger airbag when a child seat is in use, meaning the airbag could deploy into the child in a crash. Also on 2016 vehicles, the light conductor for the side marker lamps can be misaligned, causing those lights to fall out of compliance with lighting regulations. Going back to the earliest production, 2013 models have a power steering control unit that can corrode and allow moisture inside, causing the system to fail and leaving the driver with significantly heavier steering, particularly at low speeds.
