14 recalls across 4 model years
The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 has 14 recalls covering 2022 through 2024 model years, with the most serious being a fire risk on 2022 vehicles where an improperly secured ground connection on the front-left frame member or a loose electrical connection for the auxiliary heater can create conditions for a fire.
The 2024 model year has two separate drive power concerns. A battery management software error can cause a sudden loss of drive power while underway. Separately, an 80-amp fuse that was manufactured incorrectly can blow unexpectedly, cutting drive power or disabling critical systems including the airbags and instrument cluster.
The 2022 model year carries the heaviest recall load. A software error in the electric drivetrain can also cause sudden loss of drive power on 2022 vehicles. On the safety systems side, a software fault can disable anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, and the electronic brake force distribution system all at once, and can also cause the speedometer to stop working. A separate software issue can deactivate the hands-off detection in the heated steering wheel, which prevents the driver monitoring and emergency stop features from functioning. The rear seatbelt buckle mounting bolts may not be properly secured on 2022 models, meaning the belts may not hold occupants in a crash. A camera or sensor fault on 2022 vehicles can impair airbag deployment and driver assistance systems. The high-voltage battery monitoring software may fail to alert the driver to a battery malfunction on 2022 models. The MBUX infotainment system on 2022 vehicles with an active connected account can allow video and internet content to display while driving. A software error can permanently deactivate the overhead control panel, preventing occupants from manually contacting emergency services. Another software fault can cause the rearview camera to go blank, and a related issue can disable the rear turn signals, hazard lights, and reverse lights. The front and rear bumper tow ring assemblies on 2022 models may have insufficient thread engagement and can detach during towing or vehicle transport.
