The Mercedes-Benz G63 has 2 recalls, both carrying equal severity, with the more broadly relevant being a steering coupling that can wear loose on 2013-2016 models and cause partial or complete loss of steering control, raising the risk of a crash. The second recall affects 2016-2017 vehicles equipped with the Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control system. When the electronic stability program malfunctions while Distronic Plus is active, the engine can fail to reduce power even when the driver brakes or the situation calls for slowing down. Bringing the vehicle to a stop requires extra braking force or manually shifting to neutral, and stopping distances are extended as a result.
