Summary
The Mercedes-Benz GLB Class has 10 recalls covering 2019-2021 model years, the most serious affecting 2021 vehicles where a damaged stability control unit can short-circuit, potentially causing a fire and disabling both stability control and anti-lock brakes simultaneously.
The 2021 model year also has a recall for driver's side curtain airbags that may not have been installed correctly, leaving the driver with reduced protection in a crash, and a headlamp level sensor that can be misinstalled so the headlights aim incorrectly and create glare for oncoming drivers. The 2020 model year carries several distinct issues. Improperly sealed front wheel wells can allow water into the vehicle's electronics, causing the instrument cluster to go dark or the engine to stall without warning. Second-row adjustable seats may not be properly secured on one side, allowing them to shift in a crash. The rear spoiler and the side spoilers at the tailgate can both detach while driving, becoming road hazards. Front wheel arch covers that are not correctly mounted can also work loose and fall away at speed. The 2020 model year additionally has a compliance label that lists an incorrect vehicle type, though this error carries no safety consequence. Going back to the 2019 model year, certain vehicles equipped with LED headlamps have a label on the headlamp assembly with incorrect service information, which can lead to improper headlamp adjustment after a repair and cause glare for other drivers.
