The Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e has 13 recalls covering 2018 through 2020 model years, with the most serious being a 2018 driver-side airbag inflator that can rupture during deployment and send sharp metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.

The 2018 model year carries several additional safety concerns. A separate airbag issue on 2018 vehicles can cause the driver airbag to deploy without warning, and the passenger seat sensor can incorrectly show the front passenger airbag as active when it will not actually fire in a crash. The rear outboard seat belt latch plates on 2018 models can retract into the door panel trim, leaving rear passengers unable to buckle in. A front roof panel on 2018 vehicles that received a prior repair may not have been bonded correctly and can detach while driving, becoming a road hazard. On 2018 models with LED headlights, the front turn signals can emit a pink or violet color rather than the required amber, making them harder for other drivers to recognize.

The 2020 model year has its own cluster of issues. The electric power steering wiring harness can be damaged, causing either a sudden loss of steering assist or an electrical short that can start a fire. The transmission wiring harness can chafe against the front driveshaft and cut drive power without warning. The high-voltage wiring harness shield on 2020 plug-in hybrid models can fail under certain driving loads, causing the vehicle to stall. The backup camera display on 2020 vehicles can go black or reboot on startup, removing rear visibility when reversing. Headlights on 2020 models can be aimed too high, creating glare for oncoming drivers.
