Mercedes-Benz Gle300d Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz GLE300d has 7 recalls covering the 2016-2017 model years, with the most serious being a water intrusion issue on 2016 models where moisture collecting in the spare tire well can damage the fuel pump control unit and stall the engine while driving.

The 2016 model year carries several additional safety concerns. Water can also enter the electric power steering control unit and deactivate power steering assist, making the vehicle significantly harder to steer. Two separate recalls address front passenger airbag deployment on 2016 models: one involves the passenger seat occupant classification sensor failing to correctly identify the front passenger, which can prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash, and another covers the passenger frontal airbag inflator module not functioning as designed in a crash. A software fault in the airbag control system on 2016 models can also cause airbags to fail to deploy as intended. There is also a software issue affecting the emergency call system on 2016-2017 vehicles where an incorrect date and time can cause the system to relay a wrong vehicle location to emergency responders. Finally, a narrow production window of 2016-2017 vehicles built between mid-October and late November 2015 have low-beam headlights that may be misaimed, reducing the driver's forward visibility at night.
