Mercedes-Benz Gle350 Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz GLE350 has 13 recalls covering the 2016 and 2017 model years, with the most serious being a water intrusion issue on 2016-2017 vehicles where moisture can damage the fuel pump control unit and cause the engine to stall without warning while driving.

The 2016 model year carries several additional safety concerns. A front suspension recall covers an upper control arm bolt that may not have been properly tightened, causing the wheel to track incorrectly and raising the risk of losing control. A separate front suspension issue on 2016 models involves an oil leak that can reach an ignition source and start a fire. Also on 2016 vehicles, water entering the electric power steering control unit can cut power steering assist, leaving the driver with significantly heavier steering effort. Two windshield and airbag-related recalls affect 2016 models: one where insufficient windshield bonding can cause the glass to separate in a crash, leaving the front passenger airbag without the support it needs to protect properly, and another where the front passenger airbag may not deploy as designed in a crash. A passenger seat sensor recall affecting 2016-2017 models covers a related issue where the sensor may misread the front passenger, again causing the airbag to behave incorrectly in a crash.

The 2017 model year has a center console latch that can release in a crash, sending loose objects into the cabin. There is also a door latch issue on 2017 vehicles where a door that appears locked can still be pulled open unexpectedly.

Both model years share a handful of lower-severity issues. A narrow production window from late October to late November 2015 produced 2016-2017 vehicles with low-beam headlights that may not be aimed correctly, reducing forward visibility at night. Three separate recalls address the emergency call system across 2016-2017 production: a software fault can cause the system to report an incorrect time and location, and in other cases the system can fail outright, either preventing contact with emergency services or sending responders to the wrong location.
