A separate but related issue on 2021 models involves the air conditioner drain hoses being incorrectly installed, allowing water to collect in the front footwells where it can corrode or short-circuit electrical components and also raise the risk of fire. The fuel pump on 2021 models can shut down without warning, cutting drive power while the vehicle is in motion. The third-row seatbacks on 2021 models have a manufacturing defect where the locking mechanism can fail in a crash, leaving rear passengers without proper restraint. The rear window on 2021 models may not be adequately bonded to the tailgate and can detach while driving, becoming a hazard for other vehicles.
