The Mercedes-Benz S 450 has 3 recalls covering the 2018-2019 model years, with the most serious being a pre-fuse box wiring issue on 2018 vehicles where improperly secured electrical power bars can increase resistance and start a fire in the trunk. The 2019 model year has a structural recall where the A, B, and C pillar interior covers may have been installed incorrectly, which can cause them to fly off in a crash and prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying properly, raising the risk of injury to occupants. On 2018 models, certain vehicles may have been fitted with front brake discs, calipers, and pads that are a different size than specified, which can lead to the wrong replacement parts being installed during future brake service and reduce braking effectiveness.
