4 recalls across 3 model years
The Mercedes-Benz S550 4Matic has 4 recalls covering 2015 through 2017 model years, with the most serious being a seatbelt pretensioner defect on 2017 vehicles where the front pretensioners may not fire correctly in a crash, leaving occupants without adequate restraint.
On 2015 model year coupes manufactured between January 2014 and April 2015, the left and right front seatbelts may have been installed on the wrong sides. The incorrect angle changes how the belt locks under load, which can allow too much forward movement in a crash. Also on 2017 models, a door latch can give the appearance of being locked while still able to swing open unexpectedly, raising the risk of an occupant falling out or a door opening into traffic.
The 2015 and 2016 model years have a software fault in the emergency call system where the date and time can be incorrect, causing the system to relay a wrong vehicle location to emergency responders when a crash triggers a call.
