4 recalls across 11 model years
The Mercury Mariner has 4 recalls covering 2001 through 2011 model years, with the most serious being a cracked fuel delivery module on 2010-2011 vehicles equipped with the 3.0L engine that can leak fuel and start a fire.
The 2008-2011 model years have a steering torque sensor that can fail to detect driver input, causing the electric power steering system to drop its assist unexpectedly. At low speeds, this forces the driver to apply significantly more effort to turn the wheel. On 2001-2008 models that had their CD4E automatic transmission replaced with a remanufactured unit rebuilt during a specific window in 2015, the shift lever can disengage from the transmission, leaving the driver unable to change gears and causing the gear indicator to show the wrong position. There is also a parts-level recall covering 2005-2011 vehicles: aftermarket front wheel bearings sold under a specific part number during early 2015 were incorrectly sized and can affect both braking and steering when installed.
