MERCURY MARINER Recalls

The Mercury Mariner has 3 recalls spanning 2005 through 2011, with the most serious being an aftermarket front wheel bearing sold as a replacement part for 2005-2011 models that is incorrectly sized and can degrade both braking and steering, raising the risk of a crash. On the powertrain side, 2001-2008 vehicles that received a remanufactured CD4E transmission (with 2.3L or 3.0L engines) can develop a shift lever that disengages from the transmission, leaving the driver unable to change gears and causing the gear indicator to show the wrong position. The 2008-2011 model years have a separate issue where the electric power steering torque sensor can fail to detect steering input and drop the power assist entirely, requiring significantly more effort to steer at low speeds.
