What can fail
Snow, ice, or slush can freeze the engine cooling fan in place. When the fan tries to spin—either automatically to cool the engine or when the defroster runs—the frozen fan won't rotate and can overheat, potentially damaging the motor, fan, wiring, and shroud, which may cause smoke or fire.
What the fix does
The cooling fan fuse will be replaced with a smaller one, or a new jumper harness with dedicated circuit protection for the cooling fan will be installed.
