3 recalls across 2 model years
The MINI 3 Door has 3 recalls spanning the 2014 and 2020 model years, with the most serious affecting 2020 models where missing padding in the rear side trim panels means rear passengers face a higher risk of injury in a side-impact crash.
The 2014 model year has two airbag-related recalls. On certain 2014 vehicles, the front passenger airbag inflator can be improperly assembled internally, preventing it from deploying correctly in a frontal collision. There is also a separate issue on 2014 models where front passenger seat cushion components installed as service replacement parts can be miscalibrated, causing the passenger seat sensor to misjudge the size of the occupant and potentially suppress the airbag when it should fire.
