MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE Recalls

The Mitsubishi Eclipse has 4 recalls covering 2003 through 2009 model years, with the most serious affecting 2006 models where brake master cylinder seals installed incorrectly can cause the pedal to travel farther than normal before engaging, significantly extending stopping distances. The second brake issue spans a wider range: on 2006-2009 Eclipse coupes and 2007-2009 Eclipse Spyder convertibles, corrosion can develop inside the anti-lock brake unit due to a reaction between the brake fluid and the internal valve surfaces. If the anti-lock system activates with a seized valve, braking performance can drop suddenly and raise the risk of a crash. On 2003 models, if the front passenger airbag deploys in a crash and the sun visor is in the lowered position, the inflating bag can knock the visor free from its mounting bracket, sending it toward the occupant and increasing the risk of injury.
