5 recalls across 10 model years
The Mitsubishi Eclipse has 5 recalls covering the 2000–2009 model years, with the most serious being a brake master cylinder defect on 2006 models where incorrectly installed internal seals can allow braking pressure to bypass the cylinder, extending the pedal stroke and significantly increasing stopping distances.
The 2006–2009 model years, including the Spyder convertible variant, share a separate brake concern: corrosion inside the anti-lock brake system unit can cause one or more internal valves to seize, reducing braking performance when the anti-lock system activates. This issue was addressed across the final years of production.
On the airbag side, 2003 models have a recall where the front passenger airbag, if it deploys while the sun visor is folded down, can strike the visor and knock it loose from its bracket, sending it toward an occupant. A related concern covers 2000–2005 models more broadly, where the deploying passenger airbag can similarly detach the sun visor and propel it rearward into the cabin.
