4 recalls across 8 model years
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder has 4 recalls spanning the 2001–2009 production run, with the most serious being a front crossmember defect on 2007 models where the passenger-side lower control arm can separate from the frame, causing sudden loss of steering control.
The 2007 model year also has a separate issue with the ignition key interlock cable that can allow the gear selector to be moved out of Park without the key in the ignition. If the parking brake is not set, the vehicle can roll freely and cause a crash.
On 2007–2009 models, corrosion can develop inside the anti-lock brake module and seize one or more internal valves, reducing braking performance without warning.
Going back to earlier production, 2001–2005 models have a recall involving the passenger-side sun visor, which can detach and be thrown rearward into the cabin, raising the risk of injury to occupants.
