The Nissan D21 Pick Up has 3 recalls spanning the 1983-1995 production run, with the most serious affecting 1994 models where the seat belt buckle latch plate can allow the belt tongue to pull free during a crash or sudden stop, leaving the occupant unrestrained.
The 1995 model year has a rear lamp socket where the metal contact can shift or separate from the plastic housing, causing the stop lamp or turn signal to stop working and making the vehicle's braking and turning intentions invisible to following drivers. The high-mounted center brake light is not affected by this issue. On 1983 models, the vehicles left the factory with incorrect tire and rim labeling that did not meet Canadian safety standards.
