3 recalls across 2 model years
The Nissan Micra has 3 recalls spanning 1981 to 2015, with the most serious being a defective driver's frontal airbag inflator on 2015 models that can rupture during deployment and send fragments toward occupants.
The 2015 model year carries two airbag recalls. The inflator issue described above poses a direct injury risk in any crash where the airbag fires. Separately, a loose connection at the side airbag sensor on 2015 models can cause a brief communication dropout that puts the system into a backup mode, lowering the impact threshold needed to trigger the side airbags and raising the possibility they deploy in a minor collision that would not normally warrant it. Going back to the earliest production year, 1981 models have a headlamp switch lubricated with a silicone-based grease that can cause electrical arcing to deposit residue on the switch contacts, preventing them from closing fully and resulting in one headlight failing to illuminate or coming on with a delay when the switch is turned.
