4 recalls across 3 model years
The Oldsmobile Omega has 4 recalls spanning the 1977–1984 production run, with the most serious being a fuel leak on 1984 models equipped with the 2.5L engine, where the throttle body injection fuel feed pipe connection can leak and create the conditions for an underhood fire.
The 1980 model year has two separate recalls. On vehicles with manual transmissions, a weak spring in the self-adjusting clutch mechanism can cause the clutch to slip and fail to release when the pedal is pressed to the floor, leaving the driver unable to disengage the transmission. A separate 1980 recall covers premature rear wheel skid under braking, where the rear wheels can lock and send the back of the vehicle sliding out of its lane. Going back to the earliest production years, 1977 models with the 260 cubic inch engine can accumulate carbon deposits in the exhaust gas recirculation passages of the intake manifold, restricting exhaust flow and causing the vehicle to exceed emissions limits.
