3 recalls across 3 model years
The Plymouth Reliant has 3 recalls spanning the 1981-1983 production run, with the most serious being a fuel hose fitting issue on certain 1983 models where engine movement can abrade the hose, cause a fuel leak, and create a fire risk. A separate fire risk affects 1982 models equipped with 2.2-litre propane-fuelled engines, where corrosion at the propane tank fill and outage fittings can allow propane to escape and ignite or explode in the presence of a spark. On 1981 models, a brake lamp switch can fail internally and leave the brake lights inoperative, removing the warning signal to drivers behind the vehicle.
