PONTIAC ACADIAN Recalls

The Pontiac Acadian has 3 recalls spanning the 1976 and 1983 model years, with the most serious being a worn automatic transmission shift lever on 1983 models where the detent button can wear down enough that the lever no longer requires the button to be pressed, allowing the shifter to be bumped from Drive into Reverse while the vehicle is moving. The 1976 model year has two fuel system recalls. One involves the fuel tank filler neck seal, which can fail to contain fuel during a rollover and allow fuel to leak out. The other addresses the lower front corners of the fuel tank and certain rear suspension mounting hardware, where insufficient protection can leave the tank vulnerable to rupture or puncture in a rear-end collision.
