4 recalls across 2 model years
The Pontiac G3 Wave has 4 recalls spanning the 2005–2009 model years, with the most serious being a 2009 model year steering defect where the intermediate shaft can detach from the steering gear, leaving the driver with no steering control.
The other 2009 recall involves brake fluid that fails to prevent corrosion inside the anti-lock brake module. As the module corrodes, the brake pedal can travel further before engaging, rear wheels can lock up unexpectedly, and overall stopping performance degrades.
The 2005 model year has two daytime running light module issues. In the more serious of the two, heat buildup inside the module can melt the unit and start a fire. The second 2005 recall covers a module failure that causes the running lights to flicker, stay on after the vehicle is shut off, or stop working entirely without melting or catching fire.
