4 recalls across 1 model year
The Pontiac Pursuit has 4 recalls, all affecting the 2005 model year, with the most serious being an ignition switch defect where added weight on the key ring or a jarring event can knock the switch out of the "run" position, potentially cutting engine power and disabling airbags and other safety systems while driving.
The 2005 model year also has a recall covering vehicles equipped with electric power steering, where the power steering assist can cut out suddenly while driving, making the steering wheel significantly harder to turn. When this happens, a warning message appears on the driver information display and a chime sounds, but the driver still has to manage the increased steering effort. There is also a lighting compliance issue on 2005 models where headlamp shields can work loose from vibration, scattering additional glare toward oncoming drivers.
