The Pontiac Solstice has 2 recalls, both involving the same defect: a flexible sensor mat inside the front passenger seat that can bend and become damaged over time, causing the passenger airbag suppression system to disable the front passenger airbag in a crash, raising the risk of injury to that occupant. This issue spans the full 2006-2010 production run, with the 2006 model year subject to an earlier, narrower filing and all model years from 2006 through 2010 covered by the broader recall. The underlying problem is the same across both: the seat sensor that determines whether to deploy the passenger airbag can fail in a way that suppresses deployment when it should fire.
