The Porsche 911 Targa has 3 recalls covering the 2017 and 2023 model years, with the most serious being a fuel system defect on 2017 models where fastening screws on the fuel collection pipes can fracture and allow fuel to leak into the engine compartment, creating a fire risk. The 2023 model year has a rear seatbelt recall where the automatic locking retractors can fail to lock, meaning a seatbelt used to secure a child seat may not hold it properly in a crash. The vehicle's built-in lower anchor points for child seats are not affected by this issue. On 2017 models, there is also a side airbag concern: inflators located in the front seat backrests may not meet specifications and can fail to deploy correctly in a side-impact crash, reducing occupant protection.
