The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has two recalls, both tied to sudden loss of drive power: a wiring harness that can short circuit against the steering column and a front driveshaft that can crack and break.
The wiring harness issue occurs where the instrument panel wiring runs too close to the steering beam bracket, wearing through the insulation and causing a short that can cut drive power while moving. The driveshaft concern involves the outer race of the front driveshaft assembly, which can develop cracks and eventually break, also cutting drive power while driving or allowing the vehicle to roll away when parked without the parking brake engaged.
