The 2019 Subaru Impreza has 6 recalls, the most serious involving a fuel pump that can fail while driving and cause the engine to stall, and a tire defect where certain 16-inch Continental tires can develop cracked sidewalls or tread separation, leading to sudden loss of air pressure.
Two separate fuel pump issues affect this vehicle: one where the pump fails and the engine stalls, and another where the pump stops working entirely and the engine cannot be restarted. Both raise the risk of a crash. On the electrical side, the engine control module can continue sending power to the ignition coils after the engine is switched off, which can cause a short circuit and blown fuse that stalls the vehicle while driving. The tire concern only affects vehicles built with specific Continental tires identified by particular date codes and mold numbers. There is also a lighting compliance issue where the front reflectors on both sides may not reflect enough light to meet federal standards, reducing visibility to other drivers at night.
