The 2024 Subaru Impreza has 3 recalls, the most serious being a wiring harness that can rub against the steering beam bracket, short circuit, and cut engine power without warning while driving.
The second recall describes the same underlying wiring harness issue, where contact between the instrument panel harness and the steering beam bracket damages the wire insulation and triggers a short circuit that drops drive power suddenly. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, which is why two separate campaigns exist for the same problem. On the drivetrain side, the front driveshaft assembly's outer race can develop cracks and break apart. A broken driveshaft can leave the vehicle without drive power while moving, or allow it to roll away when parked if the parking brake is not engaged.
