3 recalls across 3 model years
The Subaru Justy has 3 recalls spanning the 1987-1990 production run, with the most serious affecting 1988 models equipped with a 5-speed transmission and 4WD, where insufficient lubrication in the 4WD extension bearing can cause the bearing to seize and the rear wheels to lock up without warning.
The remaining two recalls both involve front seatbelt buckle release buttons that can crack and shed plastic fragments into the buckle assembly. On 1990 models, this can cause the buckle to operate improperly, leaving the belt unable to protect an occupant in a crash. On 1987 models, the same failure mode can result in the belt not latching, latching only partially, or failing to release when needed.
