Summary
The Tesla Cybertruck has 12 recalls covering 2024-2026 model years, with the most serious being a brake rotor stud hole defect on 2024-2026 trucks equipped with 18-inch steel wheels where the stud can separate from the wheel hub and cause loss of vehicle control.
Two other safety-critical issues affect 2024 models. The accelerator pedal pad can dislodge and become trapped by interior trim, causing unintended acceleration. Separately, a fault in the drive inverter can cut power to the wheels without warning, both raising crash risk. The 2024 model also has a wiper motor controller that can fail due to excessive electrical current, reducing visibility in wet conditions, and a rearview camera that can display a delayed image after shifting into reverse, limiting what the driver can see while backing up.
Several recalls on 2024-2025 models involve parts detaching and becoming road hazards. The factory-installed front light bar on 2024-2025 trucks can delaminate and fall from the vehicle. On 2024 models, an aftermarket off-road light bar installed at a service center can also loosen and detach if an incorrect primer was used to bond it to the windshield. The stainless-steel cant rail trim panels on 2024 models can separate from the body if they were not properly attached during production. A trunk bed trim applique on 2024 models can also loosen and shed onto the road behind the vehicle.
Across all 2024-2026 trucks, vehicle software running versions prior to 2025.38.3 can cause the front parking lights to output more brightness than permitted, reducing visibility for oncoming drivers at night.
