4 recalls across 25 model years
The Toyota Camry Solara has 4 recalls covering the 2004-2008 model years, with the most serious being a seat heater defect on 2006-2008 vehicles where a damaged copper heating element can short circuit and start a fire.
The 2007 model year has a separate safety concern: the curtain side airbag tether strap in the front pillars may have been routed incorrectly during assembly, causing the front portion of the curtain airbag to deploy improperly in a side impact or rollover and leaving occupants without full protection. On the mechanical side, 2004-2005 models equipped with the 1MZ-FE or 3MZ-FE engine have a power steering pump belt that can slip off its pulley, causing the steering to suddenly become much heavier and harder to control. The 2004 model year also has a label recall where the compliance sticker shows incorrect weight ratings, though no safety risk has been identified from this.
