4 recalls across 25 model years
The Toyota Camry Solara has 4 recalls covering the 2004–2008 model years, the most serious being a seat heater defect on 2006–2008 models where a damaged copper heating element can short circuit and start a fire. The seat heater issue specifically affects vehicles fitted with certain aftermarket seat heater accessories distributed through Southeast Toyota Distributors.
On 2007 models equipped with curtain side airbags, a tether strap inside the front pillar can be incorrectly routed from the assembly process, causing the front portion of the curtain airbag to not deploy properly in a side impact or rollover and leaving occupants with reduced protection.
The 2004–2005 model years have a power steering pump belt that can slip off its pulley, causing the power steering to cut out and the steering wheel to become significantly harder to turn. Going back to the 2004 model year, there is also a label issue where the compliance label carries incorrect weight rating figures, though no safety risk has been identified for that one.
