Toyota Corolla Cross Recalls

The Toyota Corolla Cross has 9 recalls covering 2022 through 2026 model years, with the most serious affecting 2026 Hybrid models where a loose bolt inside the inverter can cause a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is moving.

The 2023 model year carries several airbag-related concerns. The driver's airbag clockspring can be deactivated, leaving the driver's airbag unable to deploy in a crash. This issue stems from an incomplete prior repair, and some 2023 vehicles that went through that earlier service may still be affected. Separately, 2022 and 2023 models have an instrument panel that may have been built without the required perforation, which can prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying correctly in a crash. Some of these vehicles were previously inspected under an earlier recall but may not have been fully corrected at that time.

On the braking side, 2023 and 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid models have a software error in the brake control computer that can cause power brake assist to drop out while cornering, extending the distance needed to stop.

The 2023 through 2025 Corolla Cross Hybrid has a pedestrian alert system that may not produce sufficient warning sound when reversing, reducing the chance that pedestrians nearby will notice the vehicle backing up. There is also a label issue on 2023 and 2024 models where an incorrect maximum load capacity value on the vehicle placard could lead to overloading.
