The Triumph Street Scrambler has 5 recalls spanning the 2017–2022 model years, with the most serious being a wiring issue on 2022 models where the alternator-to-harness connector can short circuit and overheat, raising the risk of fire or a sudden loss of power while riding.
The 2022 model year also shares the fire and stall risk described in the lead with certain other Triumph models from that year, but the underlying defect and consequence are the same. On 2019–2020 Street Scramblers, a misrouted wiring harness can contact the frame's headstock and wear through the insulation, causing the engine to cut out unexpectedly. The 2019 model year has a separate but related issue where the ignition switch wiring can contact the frame in a similar way, again leading to an unexpected engine stall. Going back to 2017–2018 production, the clutch cable can rub against the main wiring harness cover, gradually damaging the wires inside and causing headlights or turn signals to stop working or the engine to stall.
