The Vespa S50 has 1 recall affecting 2009-2012 model years, where the ignition control unit can fail and alter ignition timing, causing the engine to backfire into the airbox and raising the risk of a fire. When timing shifts incorrectly, combustion gases can be pushed back through the intake rather than expelled normally, and an ignition source near the airbox creates a fire risk in close proximity to the rider.
