Summary
The Victory Standard Cruiser has 8 recalls covering the full 1999–2002 production run, with the most serious being a fuel rail Schrader valve that can loosen on 2002 models, allowing fuel to leak and creating a fire risk.
The 2002 model year also has a fuel pump that can pull away from the pressure regulator housing, causing fuel to flow back into the tank, dropping rail pressure, and making the engine run rough or stall. On 2001 models, the primary drivetrain's split gear can fail and scatter metal debris through the primary drive, cutting power to the rear wheel. There is also a 2001-specific issue for bikes that have had a transmission replacement kit installed, where third gear is prone to failure. The 2000 model year has two concerns: brake rotor fasteners on both wheels can crack under the bolt head and lose clamping force, potentially separating and compromising braking, and the rear shock absorber contains a weld that can break and affect suspension travel and rider control. Going back to the earliest production, 1999 models have a side stand spring or its mounting pin that can fail and let the side stand drop unexpectedly while riding. That same year, the fuel pump can cavitate, leading to rough running and potential stalling.
