13 recalls across 6 model years
The Volkswagen Taos has 13 recalls covering the 2022 through 2026 model years, with the most serious being a fuel pressure sensor on 2025–2026 vehicles that can separate from the fuel tank in a rear-end crash and leak fuel, raising the risk of a fire.
On 2025 models, the instrument panel can fail to display warning lights or gauges including the speedometer, leaving the driver without critical safety information while driving. There is also a separate fuel pressure sensor issue on 2025 models where a wiring harness that is too short can pull the sensor free from the fuel tank in a rear crash, again creating a fuel leak and fire risk.
The 2022 model year carries the heaviest recall load. Two related fuel system issues affect that year: a quick connector on the underhood fuel supply line can detach, causing a fuel leak in the engine compartment that can stall the engine and create a fire risk near ignition sources. Separately, the fuel delivery module inside the tank can fail while driving, and the fuel pump itself can break, both of which can cause a sudden loss of engine power. On 2022 all-wheel drive models, engine control software can cause the engine to stall when slowing to a stop. The 2022 model year also has a rear suspension knuckle that can corrode, crack, and break, causing the vehicle to lose stability. Rounding out the 2022 issues, the infotainment system's memory module can fail and prevent the rearview camera image from appearing when reversing.
